Our Mission
Respect is the guiding principle of Mitsubishi Motors North America's commitment for making diversity work. By embracing diversity, we respect the uniqueness in background, experience, talent and personal characteristics in ourselves, our customers and our business partners.

Diversity is about recognizing that different people have different perspectives, and that those differences can contribute to the good of an entire organization or company.

By embracing diversity, we have developed corporate strategies and policies to ensure the awareness, understanding, and appreciation of diversity, as we work together to meet the challenges of a changing marketplace and workplace.

In this highly diverse marketplace and society in which we live and work, diversity is a business imperative.

Community Outreach
Since 1998, when the Mitsubishi Motors USA Foundation was established, 31 grants have been awarded to organizations that are making a difference in the lives of others. Award recipients include Catalyst, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, the Public Leadership Education Network, and the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). Since 2001, Mitsubishi Motors has partnered with the UNCF to create a scholarship program at their 39 colleges to recognize students who are leaders in their communities.

In addition, since 1998, the Foundation has recognized 26 outstanding women in 15 states for their commitment to their communities and their many contributions to improving the lives of others. Members of Congress have selected these women leaders as "Unsung Heroines," honored by Mitsubishi Motors USA Foundation at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.

From the time Mitsubishi Motors Sales and Manufacturing operations were established in the U.S., charitable giving programs have been created to build leadership, support diversity and drive better choices behind the wheel and in the community. Financial support has been provided to NAACP and Rainbow/PUSH for academic scholarships; innovative traffic safety programs have been created, one in partnership with African Americans on Wheels Foundation to encourage African Americans to use their seat belts, and one entitled Pasa Las Lavas (Pass the Keys) in partnership with MADD to deter drunk driving in Latino communities; and fun, sports-centered after-school sports programs have been launched in inner cities to encourage youth to develop self-esteem, confidence and life skills.

Nearly one-third of charitable giving dollars support programs that further understanding of diversity and reach those often overlooked.
Our ongoing partnerships with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute help support Emerging Leaders Forums and Youth Workshops. These programs provide leadership training to today's youth so they may become tomorrow's leaders and affect change on issues impacting their communities.

Our 639 dealerships, as independent businesses, contribute to their local communities in a range of programs. For example, the 21 Southern California dealers have joined forces to sponsor the Mitsubishi Jr. Clippers for the third year in a row, which teaches the fundamentals of basketball to nearly 1,600 inner city children from the ages of five to 16.

Our Customers
Mitsubishi Motors has the most diverse customer base of any manufacturer in the world. Our hip, edgy marketing seeks to engage fun-seeking strivers, and our advertising reflects our diverse customer base. We market to a spirited mindset, not a specific age or demographic, yet our appeal is strong across racial, ethnic and gender lines. We are "driven to thrill".
