Safety and Warranty

2010 Galant

Safety starts with the Galant chassis. Extremely rigid unibody construction with floor crossmembers, high-rigidity side sills, side-impact door beams and front and rear crumple zones provide an excellent architecture for safety. And with the Galant’s advanced dual-stage front SRS airbags* as well as front and rear curtain airbags you will feel safe everywhere you go. What’s more, LATCH system anchors and tethers for child seats simplify the installation process and keep child seats anchored more securely in vehicles.

Galant engineers realized that the best safety features are the ones that help you avoid an accident in the first place. That’s why the Galant comes with rack-and-pinion steering, fully independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and Active Stability Control (ASC). All told, the Galant is engineered to keep you driving safely for a long time.

Seven Airbag System
Galant offers standard advanced dual-stage front SRS airbags*, driver and passenger side-impact airbags*, and front and rear side-curtain airbags* on all models. Sensors evaluate the deceleration during an impact, the position of the driver's seat, and the weight on the front passenger's seat to provide the appropriate level of front airbag* deployment.
Five-Star Crash Rating
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has given Galant a five-star Crash Safety Rating in passenger and side-impact crash safety. It’s a testament to Mitsubishi Motors' engineering and commitment to safety. But even more importantly, it’s peace of mind for you.
Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
The ABS technology used by Galant helps to eliminate wheel lock-up during panic or emergency braking. Wheel speed is monitored and braking pressure is optimized when impending wheel lock-up is sensed. The system “pulses” the brakes up to 10 times per second, modulating wheel rotation to help eliminate lock-up and maximize driver control.
Refined Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) chassis
Galant’s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) unit-body chassis is designed to help provide added protection in a collision. With the extensive use of high-tensile-strength steel, the frame packs extra reinforcement in the areas where it matters most. By reinforcing critical areas, the RISE body chassis is your friend should you find yourself in a collision. This reinforcement is complemented by energy-absorbing crumple zones that help dissipate energy in an impact.
LATCH System
Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) help simplify the attachment of child safety seats; making it easier for you to help keep your child safe.
Seatbelts and Pretensioners
Every Mitsubishi is equipped with three-point seatbelts and head restraints, plus front seatbelt pretensioners that are designed to help tighten the belts in certain frontal impacts so the seatbelts can better do their job. Seatbelt force limiters, which help the front seatbelts and airbags* work together optimally, are also standard on every Galant.
